Replicas (2018)

Finally, Keanu got to show-off his mime skills he learned for Johnny Mnemonic again. And once again fail to act human. They should’ve hired him to mo-cap and voice Groot instead. Keanu robot acts more like a robot, than real robots do. And that’s not because he is trying to act more like a robot, he is still trying to act like a human.

It’s another clone man bad movie, but it’s neither man bad or really clone. Instead of spending 10 min on cloning, and an hour on consequences, it spent 70 min on cloning and 20 min on barely any consequences, smashed together with conspiracy, and action scenes. What the author tried to tell? Nothing, they didn’t even try. This is filler content about nothing with no consistent theme. It doesn’t even criticize Keanu fiddling with people’s memories. And well he doesn’t need more pods he can take turns. Instead of pretending that the last more than two weeks didn’t happen, make up a better lie and re-introduce the missing family member later.

And well the whole writing is bad. Keanu is made to mumble the worst meaningless pseudoscience mumbo jumbo. And then his character tries to made up really bad lies on the fly. His plan is absolute garbage. This is not even a 90s movie, four people have disappeared and they pretend like no one would notice the memory gap of more than two weeks, that no one would ask questions, that government won’t notice a big-arse child missing and four family members pretending it never existed. Like kids’ friends won’t ask about the missing sibling.

And well they talk to teens like they are 3. Bad men will make a boo-boo. Teens see way more up-to-date movies, than overworked pseudo-adults, teens always know the current tropes better than senile parents. And they think way faster with their still working brains.

Also how does the 90s CGI robot man know about what happened after the toilet?

There is no reason human cloning is banned. Because senile elderly morons in governments can’t even grasp the reason it should be. Or at least why it should be discussed and explained to everyone. They operate on mumbo jumbo sky grandpa logic, not on the facts that clones are not the original people. A clone is a new member of society that can be as useful as the original. But the original dies. Same as in any teleporter device that doesn’t bend the space, but scans you, kills you, and then releases your clone into the wild. Star Trek has episodes with the teleport releasing clones, or them resurrecting dead people just because they have back-ups. Yet no one minds dying, ending their own personal lives for the sake of the society.

They do not sell a second life to rich assholes in the ending. They scam the rich assholes, who in turn gift all their belongings to a newly created rich assholes to do whatever they want. It’s the other guy who gets to have all the fun, and the original just dies suffering.

It’s a very not good movie, but i am not sure if it is unwatchable.
