The Great Race (1965)

This film is already so cartoony they basically copied it for Wacky Races with barely any changes. They just replaced bumbling Colombo with a snarky dog.

The core confrontation is between a bad guy professor, and a good guy side-road freak-show clown muscle man. Yet another example of usa anti-intellectualism. All smart people are evil, have daddy issues, or evil and have daddy issues. It’s also weird about feminism. The real one, from the time when they were fighting for basic rights instead of lynching mentally ill g*merboy-virgins for fun. It mocks the feminism as it is a comedy but also makes a lot of good points in support of it. Unless that also was a mockery, but they were too meninist to see a good thing when starring at it.

This film is a patchwork of scenes, styles, and short storylines, but overall it’s quite a fun watch with its gadgets and gizmos a-plenty. It got whozits and whatzits galore. You want thingamabobs? It got twenty!
